Chapter 1 - Kunio Doi's Tokyo Shop - Camera Taiyodo

And still looking for stock a year on from their first advertisement, here is the front cover and first page of the January 1947 issue of Ars Camera magazine. The characters in the frame under the word "CAMERA" are the magazine contents, while below is an advertisement by Camera Taiyodo "buying at the highest prices". I'm not sure of the significance of the burning logs? Click here for a larger image.

Here's a better image (but still not great) of the Imperial Theatre Opera Programme from 1947 for a performance of "Carmen" and shown as Figure 2. Click the image to enlarge (opens in a pop-up).

In supplement to Figure 4 - which aimed to show that the company was not called Taiyo Dou, Taiyo-Do, or Taiyo-do - here's a box label, a camera bearing the maker's name, and an instruction manual cover showing the unhyphenated single word "Taiyodo".
The 2010 student magazine published by Senshu University of Chiyoda that included a feature on the Camera Taiyodo shop, referenced in Chapter 1 and translated at Appendix 2. Click the image to view the original document.
The Figure 1 Camera Taiyodo advertisement from the January & July 1946 editions of Ars Camera, as referenced throughout Chapters 1 & 2.

An advertisement placed in a 1947 issue of the satirical magazine VAN featuring a picture of a pre-War Contax. Sadly the characters are too indistinct to read, but clearly the illustration relates to second hand goods and has an image of a German pre-war Contax camera (and in the image below).

Similarly, here's a better (but not much) image of the Moulin Rouge Shinjukuza Theatre Pamphlets from 1947 and shown as Figure 3. Click the image to enlarge (opens in a pop-up).
